If I were you, I'd go grab the aforementioned Ubuntu 'mini.iso', choose the advanced command-line options, and build it up yourself. The first time I started doing that was with Xubuntu, because I hadn't yet known about 'mini.iso', which essentially allows you to build Linux up yourself, without the obnoxiousness of something like Arch Linux or Gentoo. The biggest question is why on Earth would you install Linux Mint of all things only to trash the DE and quite possibly most of what makes Linux Mint? I would urge you to instead consider something like Arch Linux, Manjaro, Debian, or Ubuntu via this 20.04 'mini.iso' file.ĭon't get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of lightweight installations of Linux, and I'm glad you've chosen to use Linux how you want - freedom is part of what we have in Linux - but it baffles my mind that you chose Linux mint for it. System settings > Administration > Login Window > Auto login > X Enable automatic login. However, depending on how Linux Mint or recent Ubuntu does things, you may be asked or insisted upon unnecessarily removing more packages.
